Arrived at the hotel with my partner, the gentleman at reception let us check in nearly an hour early which we thought was brilliant. All paperwork was filled out, we was given our room key and wished a great stay.
Went up to our original room 303, this room was not clean, stained bedsheets, hair on bedsheets and shower head very dirty, crumbs in sink and the toiletries in the bathrooms seals were broken. The room needed to be redecorated, bed base stained, carpet stained, walls stained. We went downstairs and asked if we could have our room cleaned, they offered us another room across the corridor and apologised. He explained this is the last room they have available in the hotel and he would not be able to move again if there was issues.
Went into room 404, this was significantly bigger but also a lot dirtier. Same issues with bedsheets but a lot worse. There was a bath in this room which had a lot of hair in also. There was damp in the room and again needed a lot of redecorating due to walls, floor and bed frame, also blind from bathroom being stained. Once again went down and explained to the reception who said he would send up cleaners. Cleaners come up, we pointed out stains and hair all around the bed and bathroom and they were shrugging. There was a clear language barrier as they did not speak English but they did use a phone translator to be able to communicate. One clear ripped some tiler roll off our roll in the bathroom wiped the bottom of the bath with this, did not remove hair or use any cleaning products and put it into the toilet not even flushing it. They changed the bedding but this again had hair all on the pillows and what appeared to be make up stains. They left the dirty bedsheets on the side. Myself and my partner went downstairs at this point as the cleaners said they could not use cleaning products in our room as they had none.
A woman then came to assist us, she gave us 2 other room keys 504 and 512, asked us to go see both rooms and if there was issues to contact our booking provider, she said she might be able to give us some money back to book elsewhere if we wanted but she was not sure how much we would be able to have back. She explained they are only a 4* and these are the standards of 4*.
Went to both rooms, first one we went into which was the bigger room had damp all up the walls and we didn’t even look in the bathroom after that and left immediately.
Went into our final room 4/4, this again had stains all on walls, curtains, floor and bed frame but the bedding and bathroom were clean. The woman at reception explained if we do need to move hotels she can discuss prices with us and just wanted us to have a good holiday, she apologised about the other rooms and how stressful it was for us when we first arrived and said it’s very busy due to f1 and this was the reason for the lack of cleanliness. We did look to stay elsewhere but could not find anywhere within our budget for the week as everything was over £3,000 at this point, we had no option other than to stay.
We was not the only guest complaining about how dirty their room was during check in.
We booked this with love holiday who we tried to contact during this time and they were not helpful at all and told us to speak to hotel to deal with our issues.
The room we was in was small but had a mini fridge stocked up with reasonably priced drinks and snacks, there was a clear price list too.
Breakfast was not the best, not a good selection especially if you are gluten intolerant like myself if you wanted a warm breakfast or cereal. Although it was kept warm and fresh. Plenty of cheese and salami selection and also fruit but that wasn’t looking too fresh. Coffee machine was great and a nice juice selection.
Our room was only fully cleaned once during our stay, other days there was just towels placed in a pile on the bottom of the bed and we had to get our own toilet roll as this was not restocked either. Beds were never made either.
If the hotel was cleaner then it would have been nicer, it’s only a 30 minute walk from the centre of Budapest. 10 minutes on public transport. Good location plenty of places to eat around and easy access to busses/trains into town.

Brilliant hotel, very clean and the rooms are very spacious. The housekeeping is great. All staff we spoke to upon check in and at the bar were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. We arrived around 9:30pm and we didn’t have cash on us so the barman gladly have us a bottle of water each and kept a tab behind the bar that we could pay at the end of our stage. Refreshments provided in our rooms in the mini fridge such as apple juice, Coke, snickers, peanuts etc. We didn’t realise we had to pay for them until the end of our stay (most likely our fault) but it was only around €14 for what we had, so not expensive.
The only improvement I can think of is the breakfast. We stayed 3 nights and only had breakfast once because there really wasn’t much choice unfortunately! The breakfast runs from 7:30-11am on weekends and we joined breakfast at around 10am. The food was quite cold, as if it had been sitting there for a while but we could eat it nonetheless. However, we did decide to attend breakfast elsewhere at nearby restaurants/cafes on the other days as there just wasn’t much choice at the hotel breakfast unfortunately.
However, apart from that, really lovely stay, impressed by the cleanliness and central location. Would recommend!
The reason i wanted to write this review was because of George, he treated us in the best way possible. We had booked the wrong date, and he fixed it for us, with a smile on his face. Would recommend 10/10.. he is a perfect gentlemen in everysense of the word.
Lovely and clean. Good staff and well located.
Nothing was a problem with any of the staff who did a thorough job. Good breakfast spread and well kept. A couple of metro stops north of the river which isn’t a problem.
The only issue we had was that the room was just that little bit too small but we had a great three nights and no problem with recommending.
